LMU POOL PRESENTS FREE BACK-TO-SCHOOL-BASH

August 13, 2012 - Harrogate, Tennessee — The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Pool in the Mary S. Annan Natatorium on LMU’s main campus in Harrogate, Tenn., will host a free Back-to-School-Bash Pool Party on Friday, August 17, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event will include open swim and activities for students of all ages. A host of games with prizes will take place. It will also mark the beginning of the fall swim schedule, which officially went into effect on Monday, August 13.

Fall swim programming includes six sessions of swim lessons taught by Children’s Aquatic Coordinator Kathy Francisco. The lessons are an hour in length and are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Each session runs over two weeks and includes four hours of instruction. The cost per session is $75 for group swim lessons (children or adult) or $55 for parent/child water familiarization classes designed for children under the age of three. Additionally, Francisco has enhanced the offerings of LMU’s competitive swim club, Abe’s Aquasplitters. The changes include expanding the offerings to ages six to 18 and the introduction of synchronized swimming. The Junior Aquasplitters sessions, for ages eight and under, are set for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:00 -4:30 p.m. The Aquasplitters sessions, for ages nine and up, are set for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The sessions provide instruction and organized workouts for strong youth swimmers interested in learning competitive swimming skills. The cost is $3 per visit for Jr. Aquasplitters and $4 per visit for Aquasplitters. Ages nine and up are also invited to join the Aquamarines youth synchronized swimming classes. The sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:00 p.m. Contact Francisco for more information on any of the competitive swimming opportunities at LMU.
