RAILSPLITTER PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR FALL PRODUCTION

September 13, 2012 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and the Railsplitter Playhouse announce that auditions for the fall production of Rapunzel, Rapunzel Let Down Your Heir! will take place Thursday, September 20, and Friday, September 21, in the Johnson Music Room of Avery Hall.

The Madrigal play is an interpretation of the Brothers Grimm’s classic folk tale Rapunzel. This form of dinner theater includes courses heralded with traditional songs. The play will be performed between the courses and a concert of choral music will conclude the festivities. The performance will also include audience participation. The performance dates have been set for November 29, 30 and December 1 in the Cumberland Gap Convention Center.

Co-directors Sara Schutz and Candace Armstrong and choreographer Crystal Steed will be casting a large and varied cast. The auditions will consist of reading from a script and singing a song which will be provided. The auditions, which are open to ages 16 and up, will take place at 6:30 p.m. on both days and attendance is only required at one of the sessions.

“While everyone will be asked to learn a group song at the auditions, there are many roles that involve minimal singing, so anyone who considers themselves a non-singer should still come to auditions,” Schutz said. “There are large roles for singers and non-singers. We also need people who can juggle, do magic tricks, dance, perhaps tumble and any other special talent you might have. So, come out and show us what you can do.”
