LMU POOL GETS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE LIFT
December 31, 2012 - Harrogate, Tennessee, January 2, 2013— The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Pool received an important enhancement late last year when a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pool lift was installed. The lift allows for persons with disabilities to have an accessible way to enter and exit the pool.
The University received a $5,000 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to help fund the lift. The award was one of 69 grants totaling almost $425,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families and caregivers. Created by the late Dana Reeve, the program has awarded 2,055 grants totaling over $15.6 million since 1999.
The LMU Pool is currently closed for repairs. Beginning on January 7, 2013, individuals may call Aquatics Director Floyde Anne Gardner at 423-869-6243 for more information on the reopening of the pool.
