January 3, 2013 - Harrogate, Tennessee — WVLT-TV in Knoxville has announced plans to carry the CBS Sports Network broadcast of Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) versus Anderson University on Saturday, Jan 12. The CBS affiliate in Knoxville will preempt regularly scheduled programming beginning at noon in favor of the Division II South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match-up live from LMU’s Tex Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tenn.

The game was announced as part of the CBS Sports Network’s Division II Game of the Week program in September 2012. Subsequently, the NCAA has offered broadcast rights to local stations in an effort to give Division II basketball more exposure. The matchup is part of a nine-game package for the 2012-13 men’s and women’s basketball season. This marks the seventh year of the Division II Game of the Week program.

In addition to carrying the game live WVLT will also produce and broadcast a live post-game show highlighting the University and its academic and athletic programs. The program will be hosted by WVLT’s Kelli Parker, an LMU alumnus, and WVLT Sports’ Jeff Archer.

LMU is hoping to “Pack the House” on Jan. 12 and is sponsoring a host of promotions to encourage the public to attend the game including a chance to win $10,000. T-shirts will be distributed to the first 1,500 fans through the door and 2,500 white rally towels will also be given away. Railsplitter Athletics encourages LMU fans to don white in an effort to “white out” Tex Turner Arena. This marks the first time the Railsplitters will be playing on national television.
