January 11, 2013 - Knoxville, Tennessee — Representatives from Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and Tusculum College signed an affiliation agreement on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, which makes provisions for a streamlined transition from the Tusculum College graduates into the LMU Carter and Moyers School of Education Doctor of Education (EdD) in Executive Leadership.

LMU President B. James Dawson and Tusculum President Nancy B. Moody were on hand for the signing which took place at the LMU-Duncan School of Law in downtown Knoxville. The affiliation agreement guarantees graduates of Tusculum College’s masters programs a candidate interview for acceptance in the LMU professional degree program providing certain admission standards have been met.

The application process for the EdD program includes two stages. In stage one, applicants complete an application and submit Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores, transcripts from graduate programs and three recommendation forms. The second stage involves a writing evaluation and personal interview. The agreement will allow Tusculum College graduates to begin the process at the second stage. Students who apply from Tusculum College will still be required to meet admissions standards in stage one; however, that process will be expedited.

“This affiliation agreement recognizes the quality of the Tusculum College masters program,” Carter and Moyers School of Education Dean Michael Clyburn said. “Essentially, we will be treating these candidates much like we treat our own alumni. Because of our close relationship, we know that these programs deliver the foundation students need to have to be successful on the path to a terminal degree.”

“We are very excited about the additional options this agreement will provide for current and future Tusculum College students,” said Moody. “We will continue to strive to provide them opportunities to excel not only while they are on our campus, but also as they continue their education in professional schools.”
