February 12, 2013 - Harrogate, Tennessee — The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Pool will reopen on Monday, February 18, 2013, University officials announced on Monday.

The pool closed earlier this fall after the water and air heating systems failed. The University has replaced each heating system and installed a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pool lift during the hiatus. The lift allows for persons with disabilities to have an accessible way to enter and exit the pool.

The University received a $5,000 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to help fund the lift. The award was one of 69 grants totaling almost $425,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families and caregivers. Created by the late Dana Reeve, the program has awarded 2,055 grants totaling over $15.6 million since 1999.
