April 1, 2013 - Harrogate, Tennessee — White Crow Yoga will offer a two-day Aqua Yoga Teacher Training program at the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Pool April 20-21, 2013.

The two-day workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.The workshop will result in 15 AEA and ATRI credits and 1.0 ACE credit. It is also eligible for 15 hours of Yoga Alliance continuing education contact hours.

“If you already teach or take water fitness classes, adding Aqua Yoga to your skill set allows you to provide an opportunity for your students to experience the life-changing benefits of yoga,” said White Crow Yoga Trainer Mary Irby. “These benefits include decreased stress, depression and pain, increased strength, endurance and flexibility plus improved self-esteem, posture and lung capacity.”

The training includes work in and out the pool. Nearly 60 yoga poses, bandhas (yoga locks), mantras (positive affirmations) and pranayama (breathing) techniques will be covered. Additionally, trainers will provide instruction on giving safety and alignment cues while using positive, encouraging language that helps create a relaxing environment for students to enjoy their practices. The workshop will also encompass proper breathing techniques and how to use energy seals to enhance and stabilize postures.

Participants should bring a yoga mat, paper and pen, two swimsuits and two towels to the workshop. Each day will be broken into two sections, separated by a break, including classroom instruction followed by practice in the pool.

“I am excited to be able to offer this kind of special instruction at LMU,” said LMU Aquatics Director Floyde Anne Gardner. “Not only is this a great opportunity for our community, the training will open the door to expanded programming at the pool.”

The LMU pool will close at noon each day of the workshop to accommodate instruction. The workshop is available for $350, a discounted rate is available for LMU faculty or students. For more information or to register visit .
