LMU & UNIVERSIDAD ANÁHUAC MÉXICO NORTE SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

July 16, 2013 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and Universidad Anáhuac México Norte, of Mexico, have signed a memorandum of understanding to partner in academic endeavors in the future. Parties from both universities met last month at LMU’s main campus in Harrogate, Tenn., to discuss the opportunity to collaborate.

Specifically, the MOU specifies that each institution will explore the feasibility of establishing educational and scientific exchange agreements. Both parties agreed to establish formal exchange agreements for future activities. Leadership from LMU and Universidad Anáhuac México Norte have been tasked with consulting faculty and academic units to explore potential mutually beneficial collaborative research projects; encourage schools and programs to explore the feasibility of initiatives such as student, faculty and research scholar exchanges to promote cross-cultural learning and research; explore the feasibility of joint proposals for international funding and study; and initiate discussions on the cooperative development of courses and academic programs.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for LMU and her students,” said President B. James Dawson. “Our graduates will go to work in a global marketplace, so the exchange of students, faculty, researchers, ideas and programs will only enhance their experiences here and prepare them further for tomorrow.”

The memorandum of understanding was signed at LMU in June. Dawson signed on behalf of LMU while Dr. Jessica DeAlba-Ulla, academic coordinator signed on behalf of Universidad Anáhuac México Norte. LMU Vice President for Academic Affairs Clayton Hess and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Evelyn Smith and Col. Eric Rojo, chancellor in chief of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, also participated in the discussions.

Universidad Anáhuac México Norte is located in Mexico City, Mexico, and was founded in 1964 as a central institution belonging to the Legion of Christ Educational Project.
