LMU MUSIC PRESENTS A CAPPELLA ENSEMBLE ANONYMOUS 4 IN CONCERT
September 9, 2013 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) Music Program will present the world renowned a cappella vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 in concert on Monday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center of the Duke Hall of Citizenship on LMU’s main campus in Harrogate, Tenn. Anonymous 4, consisting of Susan Hellauer, Ruth Cunningham, Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek and Marsha Genensky, is known for its unearthly vocal blend and virtuosic ensemble singing. The four women combine historical scholarship with contemporary performance intuition to create a magical sound. Their programs have included music from the year 1000; the ecstatic music and poetry of the 12th-century abbess and mystic, Hildegard of Bingen; 13th-century chant and polyphony from England, France and Spain; American folksongs, shape note tunes and gospel songs; and works newly written for the group.
Anonymous 4 has performed for sold-out audiences on major concert series and at festivals throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The group has made 19 best-selling recordings for Harmonia Mundi USA. For more information on the ensemble, visit their website http://www.anonymous4.com/.
