December 4, 2013 - Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) Caylor School of Nursing (CSON) will hold its winter Convocation Ceremony on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Tex Turner Arena on the LMU main campus in Harrogate, Tenn. The CSON Convocation is held in advance of LMU’s annual Winter Commencement, which will take place on Saturday, December 14.

Dr. Sadie P. Hutson, associate professor and coordinator of the nursing honors program at the University of Tennessee College of Nursing, will serve as the Convocation speaker. Hutson holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) in women’s health nurse practitioner concentration from the University of Pennsylvania, a certificate in clinical genetics from Georgetown University and a Ph.D in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.

During the Convocation undergraduates will receive pins and graduate students will receive their hoods. All graduates will be included in the traditional candle lighting ceremony. The lighting ceremony commemorates both the Lamp of Knowledge and the lantern carried by Florence Nightingale when she made nightly rounds to tend the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War.

“I look forward to celebrating our winter graduates at convocation,” said Dr. Mary Anne Modrcin, dean of the CSON. “The Caylor School of Nursing has a strong history of producing skilled nurses who excel in the workplace, and I know our current graduating class will be no exception.”
