LMU NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT FOR ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT AND STUDENT SERVICES
June 24, 2009 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Interim President C. Warren Neel announced the hiring of Dr. Cindy Skaruppa in the position of Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services at LMU. Dr. Skaruppa will replace current Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services Judy Beal.
“LMU is very fortunate to have someone with Dr. Skaruppa’s experience join the staff,” Neel said. “She has demonstrated by her outstanding background that she is not only a superb leader but has the focus of what is best for students in her decisions.”
Skaruppa will begin at LMU on July 1. She comes to LMU with 20 years of experience in higher education, serving in both administrative and faculty positions. Most recently, Skaruppa served as vice president for enrollment services at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga. She is a senior associate consultant with Noel-Levitz, a higher education enrollment management consulting firm.
As a consultant, Skaruppa helps campuses overcome enrollment management challenges. She has extensive experience in student retention, student marketing and recruitment. Recently, Skaruppa has worked with Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
“I find the opportunity to participate in the future of Lincoln Memorial University exciting,” Skaruppa said. “I am eager to provide inspired leadership to ensure Lincoln Memorial University’s continued record of achievement and to build upon these significant accomplishments.”
Prior to her tenure at Brewton-Parker College, Skaruppa served as associate provost of student services at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She has also served as dean of the College of Professional, Adult and Continuing Education at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. Her academic experience includes faculty positions at Lynn University, Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla., American College of Switzerland in Leysin, Switzerland and Florida International University in Miami.
Dr. Skaruppa holds a Doctor of Education in Education Leadership from the University of Miami. She earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio State University.
This fall marked the ninth consecutive record enrollment at LMU since the trend began in Fall 2000. Total enrollment at LMU stands at 3,365 students. In that time, the University’s enrollment has soared by nearly 60%. Much of the growth at LMU can be attributed to expanding professional program offerings including the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Duncan School of Law and expanding masters programs in both the Caylor School of Nursing and the Carter and Moyers School of Education. LMU also began a Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership earlier this month.
