LMU PRESENTS "THE NERD"
November 3, 2009 - Harrogate, Tennessee – Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and The Railsplitter Playhouse will open a six-day run of the fall production “The Nerd” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5. The comedy will run November 5-7 and 12-14 at the Arnold Auditorium in the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum.
Directed by Sara Schutz, “The Nerd” is the story of an aspiring young architect, Willum Cubbert, who owes a debt to a fellow ex-GI, Rick Steadman, whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you"—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd"—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact.
All performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for students of all ages and LMU employees.
