145 NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH STUDENTS TO BE HONORED
May 4, 2011 - Harrogate, Tennessee — The Caylor School of Nursing and School of Allied Health Sciences at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will hold their annual Pinning Ceremony on Thursday, May 5, in Tex Turner Arena. University of Tennessee (UT) College of Nursing (CON) Coordinator of Continuing Education Maureen Nalle will address the honorees. The program is set for 6 p.m.
One hundred and forty-five students will participate in this year’s ceremony marking program completion in the bachelor of science in medical technology, bachelor of science in athletic training, associate of science in nursing and associate of applied science in veterinary technology programs. This year’s class includes students from the Harrogate campus, as well as three of the University’s extended learning sites in Corbin, Ky., and Knoxville and Blount County, Tenn.
The event comes on the eve of National Nurses Week, set for May 6-12. Nalle brings a diverse background in nursing. Her career includes a diverse practice background spanning military practice as well as clinical practice in pediatric nursing, certified lactation consulting and as a clinical nurse specialist. Nalle joined UT in 1991. For over 20 years, Nalle has taught in both the undergraduate and graduate programs within the CON. She currently serves as the coordinator of continuing education. Her professional contributions include development of a regional consortium for continuing education, the Tennessee Leadership Institute for Nursing Excellence and the Nurse Managers Leadership Institute. Nalle has served in the role of president of the Tennessee Nurses Association and president of the Tennessee Center for Nursing. She recently completed a term as chair of the Health Policy Committee for the Center for American Nursing and is in the midst of her second term on the American Nurses Association Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics.
A number of student awards will also be presented during the ceremony. Pinning candidates will also participate in LMU’s Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. in Tex Turner Arena.
