STOWE PROMOTED TO DIRECTOR OF STUDENT LIFE
June 13, 2011 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has promoted Rick Stowe to the Director of Student Life for the University’s main campus in Harrogate, Tenn. Stowe’s promotion will be effective July 1 and a search is already underway to fill his current position as director of the High Adventure Series.
In his new role, Stowe will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and evaluating student activities and programs sponsored by the Office of Student Services, coordinating summer camps and maintaining the University Calendar. He will work closely with his successor to integrate the High Adventure activities throughout the student experience at LMU. Additionally, he will work with the director of residential life to ensure LMU students have a variety of social, academic and cultural activities to enrich the student experience.
“LMU and its students are fortunate to have a person of Rick’s caliber and enthusiasm step into this position,” said Dean of Student Development and Campus Life Robert Sabbatini. “I have no doubt that Rick will draw on his own experiences as a student at LMU to create programming to enhance every student’s experience at LMU, no matter where their interests fall.”
Stowe has been a member of the Enrollment Management and Student Services staff since he graduated from LMU in 2009. He has coordinated LMU’s High Adventure Series since joining the staff and added the responsibilities of director of summer camps in February 2011. He will retain the responsibilities of summer campus in his new role. Under Stowe’s direction, the High Adventure Series has grown to include an outdoor climbing wall. He has also guided countless groups through the low and high challenge course. Under his watch, the High Adventure program received an Enterprise Holdings Foundation grant to fund camping equipment to make overnight hikes possible for students.
Hailing from Harrogate, Stowe earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion from LMU. He is currently pursuing a master’s of education degree with a concentration in higher education and counseling.
