LMU POOL TO HOST GRANDPARENT/GRANDCHILD SWIM DAY
October 27, 2011 - Harrogate, Tennessee—The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Pool has reserved Saturday, November 5, especially for grandparents and their grandchildren. The special free program will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Annan Natatorium.
Children’s Swim Coordinator Kathy Francisco has designed a program that will include games and prizes followed by free swim. “The program is a must for all fun-loving grandparents and their grandchildren,” Francisco said. The program is free and open to the public. Participants are asked to preregister by calling (423) 489-9278.
Francisco joined Director of Aquatic Services Floyde Anne Gardner over the summer. The pair is responsible for the management of the pool including all planning, programming and maintenance. The addition of Francisco has allowed swim lessons to be added to the already vibrant schedule of activities at the LMU Pool.
Francisco will offer three more sessions of swim lessons this fall. The lessons are an hour in length and are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Each session runs over two weeks and includes four hours of instruction. The cost per session is $75 for swim lessons (children or adult) or $55 for parent/child water familiarization classes designed for children under the age of three. Adult learn-to-swim lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Additionally, Francisco is offering a school age competitive swim club open to children ages eight to 18. The swim club sessions, set for Tuesdays, are 30 minutes in length and cost $4 per class.
The remaining sessions for swim lessons include Session D: October 17, 19, 24 and 26; Session E: November 7, 9, 14 and 17; and Session F: November 28, 30 and December 5 and 7.
Visit www.lmunet.edu for a complete schedule of swim activities. The LMU Pool will be closed on Friday, November 11 as LMU hosts the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship in Mars Gymnasium. For more information contact Gardner at (423) 869-6243 or Francisco at (423) 489-9728.
