RAILSPLITTER PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR SPRING PRODUCTION
February 2, 2012 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) and the Railsplitter Playhouse announce that auditions for the spring production of Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit will take place Thursday, February 16, and Friday, February 17, at the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center.
The play centers on novelist Charles Condomine, who while trying to gather material for his next book invites the eccentric medium Madame Arcati to his home to conduct a séance. After the séance, Charles begins to be haunted by the ghost of his temperamental first wife, Elvira. Elvira tries to disrupt Charles’ marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost. Other characters include the Condomines’ slightly daft maid, Edith, and their quirky friends Dr. and Mrs. Bradman.
The auditions will consist of reading from provided monologues and scenes. Short (under a minute) prepared comedic monologues are also encouraged, though not required. There are parts for five women and two men. The auditions, which are open to ages 16 and up, will take place at 6:30 p.m. on both days and attendance is only required at one of the sessions.
The performance dates will be April 18, 19, 20 and 21. For more information contact Railsplitter Playhouse Director Sara Schutz at saravaughnschutz@gmail.com or call 865.585.5377.
