EDUCATION CONSULTANT MICKEY SLIMP WILL DELIVER COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS AT LMU
May 2, 2012 - Harrogate, Tennessee - Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will welcome Executive Director of the Northeast Texas Consortium of Colleges and Universities Mickey Slimp to make the commencement address on Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Tex Turner Arena. Slimp has served as an education consultant for LMU for several years.
During the ceremony, LMU will confer approximately 370 total degrees including associates, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral. The University will also award several special honors during the ceremony.
Slimp leads a collaborative of 16 college and university sites based at a University of Texas Health Science campus. His career got underway at the Tri-Cities WJHL television station. He has since gone on to produce award winning video and multimedia programs through the PBS Adult Learning Service, Texas STARlink and various colleges. Slimp is a native of Johnson City, Tenn. He earned a humanities undergraduate degree and a master’s in instructional communications from East Tennessee State University. He completed his doctorate at Texas A&M University, where he also taught at two campuses.
LMU undergraduate valedictorian Jacob Carver will be delivering a student address during the ceremony. Carver, of Oneida, Tenn., is a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies in human learning and development degree candidate.
