February 8, 2013 - Courtney Laird of Center Township, Penn., has been named a Student D.O. for the month of January at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) in Harrogate, Tenn. Laird is a second-year osteopathic medical student at LMU-DCOM.

The Student D.O. of the Month is a program of the LMU-DCOM Student Government Association (SGA) and is designed to recognize an outstanding first- and second-year student each month. Among the criteria examined for the honor are involvement in LMU-DCOM, leadership skills, community service, class attendance, initiative, attitude and professionalism. Nominations are made to the SGA and voted on by the officers.

Laird received her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. At LMU-DCOM she is currently the research chair of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association and the president/co-founder of the Business in Medicine Club. Laird is also pursuing an MBA through the University’s dual DO/MBA program. Laird serves as a tutor, a student ambassador and participates in many volunteer opportunities. She is the daughter of Phillip and Pamela Laird of Center Township, Penn., and the granddaughter of Theodore and Anna DiCosmo of Center Township, Penn., and Everitt and Janet Laird of Hopewell Township, Penn.

The DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine is located on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee.
