March 25, 2013 - Andrew “Dru” Morgan of Wise, Va., has been named a Student D.O. for the month of March at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) in Harrogate, Tenn. Morgan is a first-year osteopathic medical student at LMU-DCOM.

The Student D.O. of the Month is a program of the LMU-DCOM Student Government Association (SGA) and is designed to recognize an outstanding first- and second-year student each month. Among the criteria examined for the honor are involvement in LMU-DCOM, leadership skills, community service, class attendance, initiative, attitude and professionalism. Nominations are made to the SGA and voted on by the officers.

Morgan received an associate’s degree in basic sciences from Mountain Empire Community College and a bachelor of arts in biology magna cum laude from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. At LMU-DCOM Morgan serves as a first-year liaison for the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, a first-year liaison for the Medical Physiology Committee, and holds a dean-appointed position as a first-year liaison for the Learning Resources Committee. He is also a member of the Emergency Medicine club. Morgan is the son of Jewell Morgan of Wise and is engaged to Kayley Phillips of Wise.
