February 28, 2014 - Mary Mamut of Milford, Mich., has been named a Student D.O. for the month of February at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) in Harrogate, Tenn. Mamut is a second-year osteopathic medical student at LMU-DCOM.

The Student D.O. of the Month is a program of the LMU-DCOM Student Government Association (SGA) and is designed to recognize an outstanding first- and second-year student each month. Among the criteria examined for the honor are involvement in LMU-DCOM, leadership skills, community service, class attendance, initiative, attitude and professionalism. Nominations are made to the SGA and voted on by the officers.

Mamut graduated from Milford High School and received her undergraduate degrees in physiology and psychology from Michigan State University. Prior to entering medical school, she did clinical research in rheumatology at a private practice in St. Clair Shores, Mich. At LMU-DCOM she currently serves as the president of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association and as a student ambassador. She has participated in international medical outreach with the DOcare organization in Nicaragua and serves as a teaching assistant for the LMU-DCOM Osteopathic Principles and Practice course. She is the daughter of Anthony and Diane Mamut.
