Lincoln Memorial University and Covenant United Methodist Church lost dear friend and longtime LMU employee James H. (Jim) McCune on June 23, 2006. McCune served in many roles throughout his 32-year tenure with the University and served as Assistant Vice President for Constituent Development at the time of his death. He also directed the University’s International Studies Program (the Japanese Program). A great ambassador for LMU, McCune had one of the longest active tenures with the University to date. Though he wasn’t a graduate, he gave generously to LMU and forged many special friendships with alumni over the years. McCune was a soloist in the Covenant United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, where he was a member. He was also very active in community and church events.

“We continue to miss Jim everyday,” LMU President Nancy B. Moody said. “I cannot tell how many times since June I have started to do something and stopped to think of Jim. Music, like Barb, was one of his true loves and I’m sure he would be touched by this memorial.”

In honor of his lifetime love of music, the McCune family established the James H. McCune Endowed Vocal Scholarship shortly after his death. Barbara McCune, Jim’s widow, is a member of the Tri-State Community Chorus.
