March 23, 2007 - Harrogate, Tennessee — Lincoln Memorial University will be offering Level 1 swim lessons for beginners ages four and older. The series of six lessons will be given at the LMU pool on April 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. No swimming skills are required.
Level 2 swim lessons for ages four and older will also be available. Participants must have completed Level 1 lessons or have some swimming skills to enroll. The series of six lessons will be offered from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the same dates as the Level 1 lessons.
“Now that pool has been reopened, we felt it was very important to offer lessons right away,” LMU Aquatic Coordinator and program director Floyde Anne Gardner said. “Swimming and being comfortable around water is important for both children and adults. It is a skill that could save a person’s life.”
The cost of the lessons is $55. Each session will be taught by two instructors and is limited to eight participants. Spots must be reserved in advance with payment. Private lessons are also available. For more information contact Gardner at (423) 869-6243 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the swimming lessons, LMU also offers a number of aquatic programs throughout the week. Mondays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. children in first grade through middle school are invited to “Swim with J.B.” The program offers organized games, some swim instruction and free swim. The cost is just $2 per child per session.
Swim Club with Bill Stapleton meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. The program is open to fifth graders and above. It focuses on perfecting strokes and could include some competitive swimming.
