LMU’S ENROLLMENT CONTINUES RECORD GROWTH
September 22, 2008 - Harrogate, Tennessee— Final registration figures at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) for Fall 2008 show steady growth in total student enrollment. Official enrollment figures indicate the University’s ninth consecutive record enrollment since the trend began in Fall 2000. Total enrollment for the Fall semester increased by 110 students or approximately three percent – from 3,255 students in Fall 2007 to 3,365 students in Fall 2008. The number of new freshmen this fall increased by 38 students. The University also saw an increase in the number of students living in student housing on the main campus in Harrogate, Tenn.
Census data shows that new and expanding graduate and doctoral programs continue to spur enrollment. LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine welcomed its second class of 160 students in July. Additionally, the Caylor School of Nursing initiated a new concentration in its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree Program with the inaugural nurse anesthesia class. The 20 nurse anesthesia students joined 18 new family nurse practitioner students for the largest incoming class in MSN program history.
The University plans to launch a Physician Assistant program this June. LMU has targeted Fall 2009 to start a School of Law and add a doctoral program to the Carter and Moyers School of Education.
“The University continues to grow in terms of headcount and programs offered,” LMU President Nancy B. Moody said. “The increase in the freshman class is encouraging given the declining numbers of high school graduates poised to enter college and the volatile economic climate of our country. The University is dedicated to providing career paths for our students, so they can pursue their entire academic journey at LMU.”
