LMU EXTENDS DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM TO MIDDLESBORO

May 20, 2009 - Harrogate, Tennessee—Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will begin offering a degree completion program in Management and Leadership Studies at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (SKCTC) Middlesboro Campus in August. LMU had partnered with SKCTC for over 20 years, but this will be the first LMU program to be offered at the Middleboro Campus.

“Everyone at LMU is excited to continue our partnership with Southeast. We are proud to be offering one of our strongest programs to another population in need of quality educational opportunities,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Sherilyn Emberton. “The Management and Leadership Studies Program can help a person become more marketable in the job field or help them increase their earning potential. No matter where a student started or how many stops they have made along the way, this is a program that gets them back on a career pathway.”

The Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership Studies Program (MLP) is designed to assist adults age 23 and over who have 60 semester hours of college credit and prior learning experiences in obtaining a bachelor’s degree. By taking one class at a time and meeting only one night per week, there is opportunity for a person to earn a degree and advance his or her career.

Utilizing a cohort-group approach, the program can be completed over a 66-week period consisting of 13 modules defining 42 credit hours of study. The restrictive sequence of MLP modules uses a building block approach. Beginning with the foundation of LMU and its Abraham Lincoln heritage, the curriculum includes components to enhance human relations skills and research skills. The culmination of the program is a rigorous management and leadership project intended to integrate the students’ business/organizational work backgrounds with their MLP studies. Additional course work may be required outside the core.

LMU offers the program in Middlesboro, Knoxville, Morristown and Sevierville. The University is currently accepting applications at all locations.

Lincoln Memorial University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.
