LMU SOFTBALL COLLECTS SOLES FOR SOULS
February 15, 2011 - Harrogate, Tennessee — The Lady Railsplitter Softball team will be collecting used shoes at all of their home games this season for the national charity Soles4Souls. The charity will facilitate the delivery of shoes to aid the hurting worldwide.
“Our team takes on a service project every year. When we came across this organization, which is based in Nashville, it really resonated with the team,” Head Coach Dan Burns said. “I think we all realized that our closets are full of shoes we no longer wear and we are probably not alone. We hope our fans will fill up our collection box each game.”
Soels4Souls has given away over 12 million pairs of shoes during its five year history and is currently delivering a pair every seven seconds. The Lady Railsplitters will have a collection box at every home game this season. At the end of the season, the team will pack and ship the collection to Soles4Souls for distribution around the world.

The Lady Railsplitters are off to a quick start on the season and are currently 4-0. The young squad, which includes just two seniors, was picked to finish sixth in the South Atlantic Conference. The next opportunity to join their service project by donating shoes is on Wednesday, February 16, when the team meets Concord at 3 p.m. at Neely Field.
